The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply economic theory to analyze real schools’ use
of resources and to practice making recommendations for improvement on equity and/or
efficiency.
Your final project submission will be a 2-3 page single-spaced memo of recommendations you
have suggested based on your school budget analysis. Your audience should be either the
school’s principal or the school district’s leader. You should first begin by summarizing the
issue(s) at hand.
The bibliography is not included in these page limits. All feedback you received on your
Milestone submission should be applied as you further refine your recommendations for budget
improvement for your chosen school(s).
Your memo should be divided into three sections, similar to your Milestone submission:
● Introduction
● Descriiption of School Budgets
● Recommendations for Improvement
Introduction
Your introduction should include a complete descriiption of the schools’ characteristics and a
comparison of both schools, stating key similarities and differences and how those similarities
and differences may be appropriate for the context of the schools. Explain whether you are
making recommendations for one or both schools.
Descriiption of School Budgets
Your descriiptions of the school budgets should provide a general budget overview and must
explain the budget issues you have identified as they relate to equity and/or efficiency.
Recommendations

Finally, you will explain the recommendations you are making to improve the budget issues you
have identified for one or both schools and their equity and/or efficiency. Be sure to provide
rationales for your recommendations, using supportive evidence and economic reasoning,
theory, and research. If the supportive evidence includes tables, graphs, and/or figures, include
these in an appendix, totaling no more than 6 pages; refer to specific items in the appendix by
their labels.
