Paper details
For the final research paper, please research a Linux concept, such as a specific Linux-based application,
package, distribution, or command. Provide some history on the concept, how the concept can be used, as
well as what the concept does (its purpose). Also, note if the application/package has a GUI or is
command-line only. If it is command-line only, then provide additional information about its command-line
options and arguments. If you choose a command, be sure to include examples of the command, and be
sure to go over its various command-line options/arguments. Include any additional information about the
concept that you find interesting. Note that your research paper should be composed into paragraphs, and
not presented in a format similar to the outline above. The outline is only to be used to compose the actual
research and discussion into written form.
Attached to this assignment is a rubric, which determines how you’ll be graded for the final research paper.
I encourage you to let me know what you plan to do your final research paper on, so I can advise you about
its level of difficulty. I also strongly encourage you to use the resources at the Edison State Library to
conduct your research and compose your thoughts. An Edison State Librarian will always be happy to
assist you.
All research papers must be referenced (using MLA or APA format) with proper in-text citations to receive
any credit. Research papers should be at least three pages in length (double-spacing is expected).
Remember that you are permitted to email me any working drafts you have for feedback prior to the
submission deadline.
