Write a letter to La Llorona, the Weeping Woman. You are speaking to her, so be sure the letter addresses her as the audience. Let her know who you are and
what you know about her.
Answer the following
1)How long have you known her or heard about her? Does she frighten you? Why or why not?
2)What have you recently learned about her and her indigenous past? You MUST say something about what you learned about Cihuacoatl.
3)Tell her about what contemporary Chicanx female writers are doing with her legend/story. Do you think she would like these new stories? (STORIES WILL
BE LISTED IN THE FILES)
4)Discuss about at least one of the Llorona pieces we read. (They will be provided in the files) Mention the story (you choose) by title and identify the author.
Give a quick synopsis/summary of the story you are discussing and let the Llorona know how writers are revisiting her myth and amplifying it in
contemporary and/or feminist ways. Give her the scoop about what’s being said/written about her.
5) **Use at least THREE short quotes from the story you discuss about, and analyze them**
This is a letter to a ghost woman, so allow yourself to be creative and play. Ask her questions. Tell her to stay away from you. Have fun with it.
*Length for this submission 400-500 words max*
