Thesis: Police reform in an appropriate, effective manner can lead to beneficial interests that leave a positive impact on law enforcement agencies, the
criminal justice system as a whole, and all citizens.
-In short: Highlight the good and bad. Show how law enforcement does a good job, and how they can continue to do a good job serving citizens moving
forward.
-Relationship to Concentration Course Outcomes
Police reform is directly tied in and connected to the concentration course outcomes as it is a subject area that covers the entirety of the criminal justice
landscape. Police reform, from a general standpoint, is a matter that has a direct connection to law enforcement agencies, court procedure and decision
making, the various forms of correction entities, and the citizens. While the entire scope of police reform affects the major participants of the criminal justice
system, only a portion of this work will cover court and correction procedure. The main focus here will be regarding law enforcement agencies and the
general population. The purpose is to find a middle ground that will not only improve the relationship between law enforcement and their respective
communities. The purpose of this proposal goes further in finding a concrete way where law enforcement agencies can conduct their respective duties in an
adequate manner, while also benefiting the general public.
