Part 1: Using Galileo Database to Search for Academic Articles
In the assignment, you will search for a full-text article on Galileo databases such as ProQuest or EBSCOhost. In your descriptions of the search, answer the following questions:
• Which specific Galileo database did you select for the search?
• What is the topic or main question of your research?
• What search limiters (e.g., keyword, date range, full text, peer-reviewed, publication type) did you use in the search?
Select an article that looks most relevant to your research topic or interests you most, and cite the article in APA format. Write an abstract of the article with at least 100 words, and explain in what ways (e.g., theoretical framework, hypotheses, study sample, methodology, or main findings displayed in charts) the selected article is valuable to your study. Do not just copy the abstract from the selected article; go beyond the abstract to include more explanations on the conceptualization of key terms discussed in the article.

Part 2: Searching Internet Resources to Substantiate your Claims
This exercise is designed to use the Internet as a supplemental information source for your research project. Your search is to use the Internet to locate information that you can use to substantiate claims or arguments made in your research paper. For example, you may claim that “Capital punishment prevents murder,”; “Marijuana is a gateway drug that leads to the use of other drugs,”; “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” You would want to locate statistical facts or other written information on this particular issue that would support the above statement. Your assignment should include at least the following four elements.
• Identify at least one unsubstantiated claim you have already made in your prior assignment or will be made in your final research paper.
• Locate, review, and cite the Internet document that provides support for or confirms your statements. Include a page number for the article you have cited according to the APA style.
• Write at least 100 words in a statement supporting your claims.
• Describe briefly the Web site that produced the document. What other useful documents are available on this site?

Expectations
Complete Part 1 and Part 2 with a minimum of 400 words (excluding the prompt), and answer all of the questions in your own words, in clear and concise language, using standard American English. For supplemental direct copy or paraphrased material, provide corresponding APA citations.
You may use the textbook as a reference source. Submit a typed, single-spaced Word document (.doc or .docx) and upload it to this assignment. In addition, as this is an upper-level class, you are expected to write on an upper-level college basis. Papers will be critiqued for content and clarity of analysis as well as grammar. APA format should be used for all source citations and references.
