Your treatment of the topic must draw on extant social scientific research, including no fewer than five
articles, book chapters, monographs, etc., in addition to relevant research. You should synthesize all of this
literature into a well-organized exposition.
must include at least five reports of scientific research (other than the assigned readings) on the topic.
The research should be of a scholarly nature; a list of academic, peer-reviewed journals
It should be typed, double-spaced with one-inch margins.
Your paper should include an introduction and a conclusion.
Your paper must also include a bibliography, which should have entries for all of the sources that you use.
The bibliography should include for each source all bibliographic information (and not merely an Internet
address): the name(s) of the author(s), the year of publication, the title, and in the case of a journal article,
the name and volume number of the journal in which it appeared and the page numbers.
If the source is a chapter in an edited book, the citation should also include the name(s) of the editor(s), the
title of the book, and the city and name of the publisher.
You are also expected to acknowledge your sources with citations in the text as appropriate;
acknowledgments are due for any fact, opinion, or interpretation for which you are not the original source.
While your paper need not be limited to the five sources on which you write synopses, you must properly
cite, and list in the bibliography, all of the sources that you use.
The quality of your bibliography will be factored into my evaluation of your paper.
