Instructions: Please read the following topics carefully and choose one. Write an essay of at least 750 words that follows the conventions of standard
college writing. Your essay should include an introduction with a thesis statement, fully-developed body paragraphs with supporting quotations, and a
conclusion. Remember to keep your tone both formal and sensitive to as many different readers as possible. Do not write on a specific topic that you have
written on before, and the works you choose must be from our course’s syllabus. A Work Cited page is not necessary, but remember to document your
quotations with MLA-style parenthetical citations.
Choose three works and discuss how the main characters conflict with their society’s expectations. Discuss how social rules or conventions limit the
development of the characters, and compare how they deal with these limitations.
