**Students will write an 8-10 page paper analyzing the alignment between the instructional practice of a teacher (taught curriculum) in light of the objectives (including at least the teacher’s objective and the State standards/ objectives) for learning in this area (written curriculum) and the assessment that pertains to the objective focused on during the lesson (tested curriculum). Hess’ Cognitive Rigor Matrix (Revised Bloom and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge) should be used as a framework for this analysis, as should additional research and content studied in this course. The analysis will be completed based on at least one observation of that teacher’s practice and at least one interview with the teacher. Documents should be gathered to complete the analysis, including a copy of the teacher’s lesson or unit plan and the assessment that will be used following the lesson. If it is not possible to obtain the teacher’s assessment for the instruction observed, students can rely upon an analysis of released items from the State’s test to determine the alignment between the written, taught, and tested curriculum. Students are responsible for recruiting a teacher to collaborate within this study.
