You are asked to prepare a paper and a presentation on a topic of your choice. As examples, it could
address some aspect of the adaptation of woody plants to their habitat, or human selection of traits, or
potential human impacts on forest ecosystems.
Topics should be chosen that can be researched in the library databases. The paper should be brief (4
single-spaced pages maximum) and include 1. Introduction that outlines the significance of the problem, 2.
Review of research approaches that have been used and results obtained including conflicting
interpretations where applicable, 3. Conclusions including your own ideas of future directions of research,
4. Bibliography including at least three original research articles in the main-stream journal literature.
