Assignment #1 Theoretical Framework- Theories and theorist of language used in a socio/pyscho-linguistic and literacy context.
Introduction [Think of this section as a broad overview of language use/learning and what the reader will uncover in this section. Present purpose and perspective for the reader.]
Theoretical Framework
Language Using/Learning Theory [Address the below objectives holistically rather than numerically). Include level 3 headings to organize your information]
1. Identify critical theories and theorist related and inter-related to socio/psycho-linguistic foundations of literacy. How does history, society, and mind play a role in how one views language? How has post-structuralism influenced views of language use? However, consider this as a way of synthesizing into similarities/differences/contributions/influences rather than taking on each one (theory and theorist) separately.
2. Synthesize, analyze, and discuss a range of theories of socio/psycho-linguistics and how the use of oral and written language within its social and cognitive context affects literacy learning in and/or out of the classroom.
Personal Perspective
[Develop a stance (drop your anchor!) for how you view language use thus far. Some possibilities: Why (scholarly) do you connect with this theory(s)? Why is it important for literacy researchers to understand ‘word play/need/influences’ (socio), ‘cognition decisions’ (psycho), and literacy theory when looking at language use? What is a possible scenario you would select for studying how language is being used? What would you want to uncover by studying that language use?]
Conclusion
[Think of this section as a broad review of language use/learning and what the reader uncovered. Restate the purpose and perspective for the reader.]
